The present study strives to comparatively dissect two plays: Shadow by Rosa Jamali and Wild Blackberries’ Tongue by Naghmeh Sameeni. Reading women’s issues from 2010 to 2020 through the lens of two female playwrights, the study seeks to illuminate which female playwright has been familiar with women’s problems and to what extent she has sought to mirror their difficulties and offer a feasible solution to settle their issues. The study targets identifying female characters through Lucien Goldmann’s generative structuralism. Besides introducing Lucien Goldmann’s critical concepts in sociological criticism, the study will evaluate his insights in Shadow and Wild Blackberries’ Tongue. The study’s findings indicate that, regarding the social realities in general, Shadow can make many women sympathize with it since these women were grappling with economic issues and gender inequalities from 2010 to 2020. In contrast to Shadow, Wild Blackberries’ Tongue revolves around political issues, making women’s lives insecure during that period. In conducting its analysis, the present study employed a descriptive-analytical and document-based approach and exploited Lucien Goldmann’s generative structuralism
