Some approaches in the sociology of literature regard the novel as a literary representation of everyday life. In this regard, novels by women writers have, to some extent, reflected the lives and experiences of women in Iranian society. One such writer is Simin Daneshvar, whose works have focused particularly on the status of women. This study examines two novels by Daneshvar, Soovashoon and The Wandering Island, which were published twenty-four years apart, in an attempt to trace the changes and transformations in women's lives in the context of cultural changes in Iranian society and its transition from tradition to modernity. More specifically, by focusing on the perspective of one of Iran's most prominent women writers, the study examines the process of the transformation of Iranian women from the writer's perspective and explores the reasons behind changes in women's actions. The aim of the study is to demonstrate the changes and transformations in women's lives in two different social contexts, namely, traditional and modern Iranian society. The central question is what changes and transformations women's lives underwent over the years from the 1950s to the 1970s and whether these changes resulted in an improvement in women's status. The study employs a library-based research method and a descriptive-analytical approach. The findings indicate that changes and transformations in women's lives, in many cases, confronted them with numerous challenges and crises, as well as contradictions and dualities. Among the major changes were the increasing influence of new cultural values on women's lives and changes in their ways of thinking, greater interaction between female characters and society and their increased assumption of social roles, and a reduction in gender boundaries
