The Liku folk poems of Rudbar-e-Jonub, as a treasure of Oral literature intertwined whit nature reflect the profound connection between ecosystem and cultural identity in a region now facing severe environmental crises. Employing an ecocritical approach and drawing on Jesper Hoffmeyer’s biosemiotic theory, this study demonstrates how Likus function not merely as poetic texts but as aemiotic systems that narrate the collapse of ecosystems and identity ruptures. The analyzed Likus are selected by Mansour Alimoradi, Findings reveal that elements such as the Liku as a bird, palm groves, mesquite trees and historical sites act as active cultural biosigns, shaping the collective memory and semiotic niche of Rudbar-e-Jonub’s inhabitants, The reflection of crises such ad drought, dust storms and loss of vegetation represents a semiotic breakdown within this meaning network, whereby the destruction of each natural element leads to the erosion of a part of the collective Umwelt and the interpretive knowledge of the residents. This article is the first to apply the concepts of Jesper Hoffmeyer’s biosemiotic theory in analyzing indigenous literature and represents an effort to expand the scope of ecocriticsism through an interdisciplinary approach.
